Below is a selection of photographs of the successful ‘Shiver Me Timbers: Pirates on Page, Stage and Screen’ physical exhibition which was on display at The Word in South Shields from 25 May 2017 to 31 January 2018. Its centrepiece was a replica galleon (with skeleton figurehead) moored opposite a desert island, complete with a treasure chest watched over by Long John Silver!
Throughout the room, past the ‘Jolly Roger’ flag, around the Pirate cannon and among the palm trees, were display cases containing a selection of famous Pirate costumes, reproduction Pirate documents and original artwork from the classic kids’ TV show, Captain Pugwash.
